During the last weekend we implemented a change in LimeService to enable email sending without the need to have your own SMTP server. How does it work? By default email sending using the LimeService server is enabled now if you are not using SMTP. You can toggle between SMTP and LimeService email sending in the global settings dialog. When you send emails using the LimeService server the email will use 'noreply (at) limeservice.com' as sender address but it will also have your email address set as 'reply-to' header. That means if someone wants to reply to your email that person will reply to you. Comparison of email features LimeService internal mailer Advantages: - Everyone can use it - no setup, no need for your own SMTP server
Disadvantages: - If the email is bounced for some reason (receiver does not exist anymore) you won't get notified
- Sender address is noreply (at) limeservice.com
Using your own SMTP Advantages: - All emails have your real sender address
- Any bounced email will be sent to the configured bounce address
Disadvantages: - Slightly trickier to set up
Please note that this new email feature is only available in version 1.86 and up so if you are still running an earlier version please consider to upgrade. Please also note that we adjusted our Terms and Conditions accordingly. If you have any questions regarding the new features please open a ticket in our support tracker.
